The Green Shed Tamborine Mountain

The Green Shed is Tamborine Mountain's grower-run produce market. It is a not-for-profit venture of the Tamborine Mountain Local Producers Association, set up so small local farmers and backyard growers can sell directly to residents and visitors each week. Many of the growers are mountain-dwelling retirees who share a passion for spray-free, chemical-free vegies. Some members are certified organic, and much of the produce is picked the day before or in the early hours of market morning. What's on the tables follows the seasons and the mountain's rich volcanic soil. Look for avocados, kiwi fruit, rhubarb, greens and flowers, plus honey, nuts, herbs, plants, preserves, fresh bread, juice, kefir and coffee. Prices are set to give growers a fair return, which helps keep the mountain's farms and green rural character alive.
