Back in 2014, my husband Mark and I lived out of an old Toyota Troop Carrier, travelling through Australia's coastlines and country towns. Over the 12 years that followed, our family moved through 12 different homes across completely different parts of the country.

Markets tell you something immediate about a place. It might be a hot breakfast pie from a food van in cool-climate Launceston or local passionfruit on a sunny morning in Mullumbimby. They are one of the few places where people still gather without much pressure, conversations happen naturally and small businesses get to be seen.

But finding them was always harder than it should have been. Information was scattered across old websites, Facebook posts and roadside signs. Sometimes we found the market. Sometimes we discovered it after we had already missed it.
