Launched in April 2021 by NQ Event Co after widespread calls from local small businesses for an inclusive twilight event, the Mackay Twilight Market has grown from 62 stallholders in its first undercover shed to a much-loved community fixture drawing 80-plus businesses and exhibitors each event. Held on select Saturday evenings (and Friday evenings for the annual MEGA Christmas edition) at the Mackay Showgrounds Big Shed and undercover area, it runs from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm and draws a broad crowd of families, local creators, and curious visitors looking for something a little different after dark. Unlike handmade-only or niche markets, the Twilight Market welcomes every style of business - from handcrafted goods and local artists to service providers, food vendors, and entertainers. A large food-court-style dining area anchors the event alongside multiple food trucks, while live musicians set the mood and dedicated kids' activities including face painting and balloon twisting keep the whole family entertained. Each product category is capped at 6-8 stallholders, ensuring genuine variety across every visit. The market is an all-weather event held entirely indoors and undercover, so it proceeds rain or shine.
