The Gully Market

Nestled in the car park of Upper Ferntree Gully Railway Station on the Burwood Highway, The Gully Market runs every Saturday and Sunday in the foothills of the Dandenongs, just 600 metres from the famous 1000 Steps. This not-for-profit community market champions handmade, home-grown, and locally sourced goods - from fresh produce and plants to artisan crafts and authentic Sri Lankan street food. What sets it apart is its deep community commitment: all proceeds from stall fees, after market costs, go directly back into local causes. Since 2023, the market has donated over $20,000 to organisations including Angliss Hospital, the Otis Foundation, the Upper Gully CFA, Ferntree Gully Salvation Army Food Bank, and more. Easily reached by train (a 2-minute walk from Upper Ferntree Gully station), bus, or car with ample on-site parking, it's a welcoming weekend destination for families, walkers heading to the 1000 Steps, and anyone who believes shopping local should also do local good.
