Canberra's oldest and most beloved fresh food market, a local institution since the 1960s when farmers would gather to sell produce off the back of trucks. Permanently established by Federal Government Act in 1967 at the current Fyshwick site. Over 25 specialty shops including 4 fruit shops, 4 butchers, 3 delicatessens, 2 seafood shops, bakeries, cafes, Asian grocery, organics, wine and liquor store, plus the Niche Markets wing for gifts, homewares, clothing, and flowers. All locally and independently owned with knowledgeable staff providing authentic market feel. Major redevelopment completed in 2013 ensures optimal shopping experience. Open Thursday to Sunday with ample free parking.
