About this market

Farm on the Green is a not-for-profit urban farm on the old bowling green at Club Sapphire in Merimbula. The farm sits above the club's undercover car park, and its community farm gate stall is a favourite with locals trying to cut their food miles. Everything on the table is grown on site in nutrient-dense soil without pesticides or chemicals, and it is picked on the day. The range follows the seasons, from rhubarb, yakon and heirloom beetroot to winter brassicas and snow peas, so expect something different from the supermarket shelf. The project began in 2017 after the Black Summer bushfires and other events highlighted how fragile local food supply can be. It is run with volunteers at regular working bees, and surplus produce is donated to Sapphire Life Opportunities and other local groups supporting families in need.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I pay?

The farm gate stall takes both cash and EFTPOS.

How do I find the farm at Club Sapphire?

Park in the Club Sapphire car park near the signed undercover area. Take the stairs up and turn left to reach the farm entrance gate, which has a sign and the day's information.

What should I bring?

Bring your own shopping bags. If you want a coffee or tea, bring it in a keep-cup. Arrive early for the best picks, as the range depends on what was harvested that morning.

Can I volunteer?

Yes. Working bees run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and before Sunday sales, and both novices and experienced gardeners are welcome. You can ask at the Sunday stall or email the team.
