About this market
Held on the holiday Monday of each long weekend - Easter, June (King's Birthday) and October (Labour Day) - the Wollombi Markets bring thousands of visitors to the saleyards at the heart of one of the Hunter Valley's most charming historic villages. With more than 100 stalls spread across the grounds, the market offers a genuine country mix: fresh local produce, handmade crafts, plants, clothing, tools and bric-a-brac, alongside food vendors and the nearby Wollombi Tavern for those who want to linger. What makes Wollombi special is the community spirit woven into every market day - each event is entirely organised and run by a different local volunteer group, with proceeds benefiting the Wollombi School Community Centre, Wollombi Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade, Laguna Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade, and Wollombi Valley Community Association. The village sits on scenic Tourist Drive 33 in Hunter Valley Wine Country, just over an hour from Sydney or Newcastle and 30 minutes from Cessnock, making it a natural addition to a weekend winery itinerary.
