About this market

Held on the third Sunday of every month at the historic Commonwealth Reserve on Nelson Place, the Williamstown Craft Market is a beloved waterfront institution that has been bringing local makers, bakers and growers together for over 30 years. Every stall must meet a strict handmade, homegrown or home-baked standard - meaning everything you pick up has been created by the person standing in front of you. Browsers can explore outdoor stalls right at the water's edge, pause for live music from the Rotunda, and let kids loose at the on-site Animal Farm. The nearby HMAS Castlemaine museum adds a nautical dimension to the day out, and the Williamstown Ferry from Southbank makes for a scenic approach. Run entirely by volunteers, the market has a genuine community character that sets it apart from larger commercial events.

Note that winter markets (May to September) close at 3:00pm, while all other months run through to 4:00pm.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to the market without driving?

The Williamstown Ferry runs from Southbank (near the Evan Walker Bridge) directly to Williamstown - look for the blue and yellow ferry. It's one of the best ways to arrive. Check Williamstown Ferries (williamstownferries.com.au) for timetables and fares.

Is there parking nearby?

Free all-day parking is available in Cole Street and Thompson Street - check the signs carefully as all-day parking applies to one side only. Tenix also offers secure all-day parking about a 10-minute walk from the market.

Can I apply to be a stallholder?

Yes - new stallholder applications are open. All products must be handmade, homegrown, or home-baked by the stallholder. Some categories are currently full (candles, jewellery, crochet/knitted items, children's clothing) and on-site food/coffee vans are not currently accepted. Email applywcm@gmail.com or apply via the website form.

Do I need to bring my own equipment as a stallholder?

Yes. Stallholders must supply their own marquee, tables and equipment. Marquees must be weighted at 15kg per leg (water weights are not accepted). Vehicles cannot remain on the reserve during the market - stallholders unload, move their car, then return to set up.

What are the winter trading hours?

From May through September the market closes at 3:00pm instead of the usual 4:00pm. Check the website Market Dates page or Facebook for any last-minute changes.
