    About this market

Every Thursday morning, Maryborough's city centre transforms into a colourful outdoor heritage bazaar along Adelaide Street - one of Queensland's most intact Victorian-era streetscapes. Run by Fraser Coast Rotary Events Inc. (a joint not-for-profit venture between the Rotary Clubs of Maryborough-Sunrise and Hervey Bay City), the market draws locals and visitors alike with a generous spread of farm-fresh produce, original handmade craft, artwork, jewellery, clothing, natural beauty products, and fresh-cut flowers. All profits are returned to community-based organisations across the Fraser Coast region. The atmosphere is genuinely festive: organic fair-trade coffee gets the morning started, hot food stalls cover breakfast through to lunch, and live music and entertainers fill the CBD air. At 1pm, the historic Time Cannon fires at Town Hall Green - a tradition unique to Maryborough. Make a full day of it by joining the free Heritage Walking Tour from City Hall at 9am, or hop aboard The Mary Ann replica steam engine through nearby Queens Park. The market is also a short stroll from The Story Bank museum, celebrating Maryborough's famous literary connection as the birthplace of Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers.
