About this market

Forest Green Christmas Market brings local makers and small businesses to the Melbourne Christmas Tree Farm in Plumpton, a family-owned plantation about 30 minutes west of the CBD. It began in 2018. Each festive season it runs on two weekends in the lead-up to Christmas. More than 60 stalls fill a large hangar-style hall and the grounds outside, offering handmade gifts, jewellery, crafts, garden goods and Christmas treats. Between stalls, families can grab something from the food trucks, visit Santa, and let the kids enjoy face painting, rides and farm animals. Many visitors also walk the plantation rows to choose their own real tree to take home. The motto is 'buy local or bye bye local', so it is a relaxed, community-minded way to tick off Christmas shopping in one outing.

Can I buy a real Christmas tree at the market?

Yes. The market is held at the Melbourne Christmas Tree Farm, where you can walk the plantation and choose a real Pinus radiata tree. The farm donates $10 from every tree sold to the Good Friday Appeal.

Is the market indoors or outdoors?

Both. Some stalls are inside a large hangar-style hall, and others, including the food trucks, are on the grounds just outside.

How do stallholders book a spot?

Stalls start from $85 per day and can only be booked through the official Forest Green Market website. Indoor stalls are 3 x 3 m, and outdoor sites are larger. Public liability insurance is required.
