Tucked into the historic Dagun Railway Station on the Mary Valley rail line - about 16 km south of Gympie - the Dagun Growers Market is a Saturday afternoon gathering run by the Mary Valley Country Harvest Co-operative, a community-operated co-op of local small growers and producers. The relaxed, social atmosphere sets this one apart: you might find yourself joining an informal music session, pulling out a board game, or simply sitting with a glass of wine and a slice of cheesecake while browsing seasonal, farm-fresh produce sold directly by the growers who grew it. Produce is grown under CareFarmed and chemical-free principles - no artificial fertilisers or pest sprays - and is harvested just before market day to maximise flavour and nutritional value. The co-op also offers preserves and fermented goods made from Mary Valley ingredients, and the station surrounds include a Natural History Garden Walk and Labyrinth for a leisurely stroll.
