About this market

Now in its 12th year, the Woodend Community Farmers' Market is a vibrant, volunteer-run celebration of fresh regional produce set under shady trees at the Woodend Community Centre and Library - an easy stroll from the town centre. Organised by the Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group (MRSG), it is one of the region's most community-rooted gatherings: genuinely accredited by the Victorian Farmers' Markets Association (VFMA), so every stall represents a real, local producer from the Macedon Ranges and surrounding districts. Beyond the 90-plus regular and seasonal stallholders offering fruit, vegetables, meat, bread, honey, cheese, eggs, wine, herbs, preserves and eco-friendly household goods, the market weaves in live music, hot food and specialty coffee. A Wash Against Waste trailer staffed by volunteers helps keep the market plastic-bag free and zero-waste in spirit, while the Home Produce Exchange offers a swap table for homegrown produce and growing advice. On market days the Woodend Repair Cafe also opens nearby at the Neighbourhood House, making the first Saturday of every month a genuine community occasion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an authentic producers-only market?

Yes. The Woodend Community Farmers' Market is accredited by the Victorian Farmers' Markets Association (VFMA), meaning all stallholders must meet strict producer criteria - you are buying directly from the people who grow or make the goods.

How do I apply for a stall?

Stallholder enquiries must be submitted at least 2 weeks before the market you wish to attend, to allow time for assessment by the Market Manager and review by the Committee. Contact marketmanager@mrsg.org.au or call 03 8657 4930.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, dogs are welcome at the market.

Is the market plastic bag free?

Yes. The market is proudly plastic bag free. A Wash Against Waste trailer is on site each month run by MRSG volunteers to help reduce waste.

What else is on during market day?

The Home Produce Exchange operates a swap table for homegrown produce each month. The Woodend Repair Cafe also opens on Farmers' Market days at the Woodend Neighbourhood House Undercroft (access via gates by the skate park).

Who runs the market?

The market is an action group of the Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group (MRSG), a not-for-profit volunteer organisation. Market Manager is Matthew Barry (03 8657 4930 / 0407 808 123).
