    About this market

The Warragul Arts & Makers Market is a seasonal open-air market run by the volunteer-driven Baw Baw Arts Alliance, returning to the TAFE Gippsland car park on Queen Street each third Saturday from October through to April. Established in 2012 and grown considerably since, it is a free cultural event where local and regional artists bring original, handmade work across a wide range of disciplines - from painting, ceramics and jewellery to textiles, photography, woodwork and sculpture. The market is deliberately curated to maintain diversity across stall categories, with preference given to high-quality, authentic and innovative pieces made by the stallholder themselves. Stall fees are modest and membership-based, and a limited number of free sites are reserved for artists under 18 to encourage the next generation of Gippsland creatives.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to attend as a visitor?

Entry is completely free for visitors.

    How do stallholders apply?

Applications are submitted via the Baw Baw Arts Alliance website form. Stallholders must be Bbaa members and all items offered for sale must be their own original handmade work. Applications are reviewed by the Market Selection Committee.

    What are the stallholder fees?

A single market site (3m x 3m) costs $25. A full season booking (all 6 markets, October to March) is $120. Payments are non-refundable. Free sites are available for stallholders aged under 18, subject to availability.

    What insurance do stallholders need?

All stallholders must hold current public liability insurance to a minimum of AUD $20,000,000.

What time can stallholders set up?

Stallholders may arrive from 7:00 am but vehicles must be removed from the site by 8:15 am. Anyone arriving after 8:00 am will not be permitted to drive into the market and will need to carry goods in by hand. Stalls must not be dismantled before 1:00 pm.

Is the market cancelled in bad weather?

The market is an all-weather event. However, if an adverse weather event forces cancellation, notice will be posted on the Baw Baw Arts Alliance market page on the Friday evening before the market. Stallholders should check the page for updates.
