Proudly run by the Rotary Club of Waikerie, the Waikerie Riverfront Market brings together handmade crafts, art, jewellery, clothing, plants, fresh produce, and food and drink stalls right on the banks of the Murray River in South Australia's Riverland. It's the kind of unhurried regional market where you can settle into an outdoor chair by the water, enjoy a bite from the food vendors, and soak up ambient music with the locals. Alongside the main stalls, the Car Boot and Collectables Sale runs at most events - a giant community garage sale where sellers pull up and trade pre-loved clothing, books, toys, homewares, and bric-a-brac from the boots of their cars. How does the Car Boot and Collectables Sale work?
Sellers load their car with second-hand or handmade goods and sell from their boot or a table beside their vehicle. Entry opens one hour before the main market. The $20 seller fee is collected on the day - you can also just turn up. No trailers, trucks, or long-wheelbase vans. All goods must be second-hand or personally handmade (no takeaway food, fruit or veg sellers).
