About this market
Tucked beneath the trees of the iconic Kay Street Gardens, a short stroll from the Traralgon CBD, this monthly market has become a fixture on the local calendar and draws regular visitors from across Gippsland. It is a producers' market rather than a craft market: stallholders are genuine growers and artisan food makers, with no re-sellers. Expect seasonal stone fruit, berries and citrus, pastured eggs, organic sourdough, smallgoods, olives, honey and nursery plants, alongside hot snacks like gozleme, Dutch poffertjes and spuds on a stick. The market is run by the Lions Club of Traralgon as a community fundraiser, and the club's own catering stall helps fund local Lions projects. It began in 2005 when the former Tyers Farmers' Market moved to town, and the Lions have nearly doubled the number of vendors since taking over in 2008.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a market in December?
December usually swaps the Saturday morning market for a Christmas twilight market. In 2026 it is listed for Wednesday 23 December, 3pm-8pm. Check the market website or Facebook page to confirm.
Is this a craft market?
No. The organisers stress that it is a producers' market for locally or regionally grown and made food and related goods, not a craft market.
How far is the market from the town centre?
Kay Street Gardens sits between Church and Breed Streets, about 150m from the Traralgon CBD.
Should I bring my own bags?
Yes. The market is moving towards being plastic bag free, so stallholders do not hand out new plastic or biodegradable bags.
Can community groups have a stall?
Yes. Up to two community groups per market can promote their cause or sell raffle tickets. Apply to the market manager at least two weeks before the market. Groups need to bring their own table, chairs and marquee, plus public liability insurance.
How do I become a vendor?
Check the eligibility list on the market website, then complete the online application form. The market committee reviews applications, and preference goes to VFMA-accredited producers. A standard 4.2x3m site costs $55, with power an extra $5.
