About this market

Held on the grounds of the heritage-listed Tenterfield Railway Station Museum - opened in 1886 as the "Great Northern Terminus" - the Tenterfield Railway Markets offer a wonderfully atmospheric morning out in the New England tablelands. The markets are held bimonthly, with stallholders setting up across the station precinct bringing a large variety of stalls including homemade cakes, jams, relishes, plants, books, antiques, old tools, old wares, arts and crafts, clothing, and second-hand goods.

Moccona Maids and Tea Bag serve hot drinks, soft drinks and water, while the Bread Bags serve sausage sandwiches with onions and sauces with onions and sauces, all lovingly cooked by our Chefs de Cuisine. Some markets also feature live entertainment. Entry to the museum is free during the markets.

It is the kind of community market where the setting does as much talking as the stalls: the sandstone station buildings, historic rolling stock stretched along the platform, and the wide country sky make browsing feel genuinely different from a suburban market day. The Museum is open during and after the market, open to explore - from Tilly the 1912 Tank Engine to the turntable and the Trike Shed full of quirky workers' transport.
