Closure notice
Mitchelton markets cancelled
The final market scheduled for Easter Sunday, 5 April will no longer proceed.
This decision has been carefully considered. Due to the Easter holiday period, a number of stallholders will be taking time off, and as a result, we are unable to present the full market experience.
More broadly, the decision to close the Mitchelton Market permanently has not been made lightly. Rising operational costs, particularly the increasing expense of road closures, especially on public holidays, mean the event is no longer financially sustainable after 17 years of operation.
We understand this may be disappointing and sincerely apologise that we are unable to deliver a final event on this date.
Thank you for your continued support of the Mitchelton Market.
We are incredibly grateful to our stallholders, customers, and local community for being part of the journey.
About this market
For 17 years, Jan Powers Farmers Market Mitchelton brought fresh produce, artisan food and community spirit to Blackwood Street on the first Sunday of each month. Stallholders and shoppers from across Brisbane's north-west gathered from early morning for one of the city's best-loved neighbourhood markets.
The market held its final trading day on Sunday 1 March 2026. Organisers announced permanent closure shortly after, citing rising operational costs — particularly road closure fees on public holidays — as the event was no longer financially sustainable.
