About this market
Jacaranda Thursday is the centrepiece of the Grafton Jacaranda Festival. The closed-off main street becomes a purple-tinged street fair, running from the river end of Prince Street through the CBD to Pound Street. Over 220 stalls offer local products, handmade crafts and treats, while live music, performances and local talent fill the gaps between them. Shopfronts join in too, with local businesses dressing up, decorating their windows and handing out giveaways. It is a one-day community celebration rather than a regular market. The town takes a half-day public holiday from 1pm, and the fun often carries on into the evening at local pubs.
