Alphington Farmers' Market

Alphington Farmers' Market is held on the grounds of the Melbourne Farmers Markets headquarters and community food hub. The not-for-profit social enterprise has run farmers' markets across Melbourne since 2002. The site was once old council offices and bare concrete and is now a productive community meeting place. Each Sunday locals stock up on seasonal Victorian fruit and vegetables, free range eggs and meat, cheese, olives, honey, grains and fresh-baked bread, then linger over coffee, fresh orange juice and breakfast. The market is plastic bag free and uses a wash-up station to cut single-use waste, so it suits shoppers who like their weekly shop low-waste and close to the grower.
